There are two mean catergory of diesel engine the first one is lister type diesel engine
and second one is petter type diesel engine these diesel have different sub category of diesel engine .
Type :-
Diesel engine are single cylinder and double cylinder ,4
stroke cycle, water cooled, vertical, cold starting totally enclosed.
Combustion :-
The Combustion chamber is meanly open type. This have different type like cast iron piston ,alloy piston and Indirect Injection combustion system placescombustion chamber in cylinder head. Direct Injection also available.
Rotation :-
The lister type engine have Standard clockwise rotation looking from flywheel end, keeping Air & Exhaust toward left hand side.
Lubrication :-
In lister type engine the Large and bearings and main bearings are lubricated by splash lubrication engine and by reciprocating lub. oil pump engine. Camshaft bush is also lubricated by splash, Rocker bushes are lubricated by cup fed lubrication. In other of lister engine Main Bush bearings are Lubricated by force by plunger type lubricating OilÂ
Cooling System :-
In the engine cooling system is arranged by run through water supply. A radiator or cooling tank can be arranged if required in heavy engine.
Drive :-
Every engine is also have Standard power take off is from left hand side flywheel and engine is started by handle manually.
Fuel :-
The Fuel is supplied to the fuel pump and in diesel engine the oil bath cleaner is also fitted.

which should i apply to? college of agriculture or college of engineering?so im applying to the university of tennessee. i really want to major in some sort of engineering that helps the environment. well, i want to design engines for boats and/or airplanes making them more environmentally friendly. i know that would be mechanical engineering but biosystems engineering works with biofuels and things in that area also and its in the agricultural college. theyre on the same campus so you have to either apply for one or the other. and on the scholarship form you have to choose. which one would be more relevant?
